Her sister may not be aware that Li is feeling overwhelmed. Li is not being honest about her feelings and is trying to avoid a conflict with her sister. She does not stand up for herself. It is a passive way of asking for help. Li tells her sister that she wants to take care of their mother, but that she just needs a short break from caregiving during the week. She says: “I would like to discuss how you could help in a way that is possible for you.” Aggressive. This is not an effective way of asking for help. Li becomes angry. However, her sister may not be aware that Li is feeling overwhelmed, because she did not clearly mention this. She does not approach her sister in a respectful way.
