Module 5 Lesson 1. Introduction to behaviour changes Let’s review what you have learned People with dementia may experience behaviour changes that are distressing or upsetting to them or those around them. It is helpful to identify what happens before the stressful behaviour to understand what might cause it or make it worse. It is also helpful to identify how you usually respond, what you feel or what you do. Take a deep breath and think about the best ways to respond that will be the least distressing to you and the person you care for. Try different responses and approaches, as the first one does not always work. Seek professional help if you cannot manage a situation. You finished this lesson, well done!
