Module 5 Lesson 5. Difficulty sleeping Let’s review what you have learned Difficulty sleeping is common in people with dementia. Sleeping problems can be very stressful to deal with. If the person you care for is having difficulty sleeping, tryto make them more comfortable. Try to identify circumstances that may increase difficulty sleeping and change or address them. When one approach doesn’t work, try another one. Realize that there will be good and bad days. Remind yourself that difficulty sleeping is part of the disease. Take a deep breath and think about the best ways to respond that will be the least distressing for you and the person you care for in case of sleeping problems. Ask for help. It is hard to provide good care on limited sleep. You finished this lesson, well done!
